If you work in any sort of office environment, you may have seen the differences in the level of work done by employees around you. In fact, this is one topic that has confounded professionals for years. Why, in work, do some people perform better than others?
To help answer this perplexing question, Morten T. Hansen dedicated years to studying over 5,000 managers and employees. His investigation looks into what habits (or as he refers to them, practices) allow some people to maximize their time and their overall performance at work. This research led to the book ‘Great at Work: How Top Performers Do Less, Work Better, and Achieve More’ which is ADMIN’s January Book Review!
Throughout the book, you are offered an inside look at Hansen’s comprehensive study with stories from the inspiring individuals he looked at. From a sushi chef to a high school teacher, Hansen’s ‘Seven Work Smarter Practices’ are highlighted.
This book was a great way for the ADMIN team to assess our strengths and weaknesses in regards to each one of these practices. While some people find that they do well in prioritizing their work throughout the day, they struggle when it comes to having a sense of purpose or a strong workflow.
If you are looking to reassess the way you work and improve your overall performance, definitely give this book a read and let us know what you think in the comment section below!
