2020 NATIONAL NURSES WEEK
Yesterday kicked off National Nurses Week and this celebration of healthcare workers could not come at a better time. The current climate, which includes the COVID-19 pandemic, has been challenging on society as a whole. However, it has been the essential workers – especially those in healthcare – who have taken the hardest hit. While putting their own lives at risk, they continue to work diligently in order to protect others from the threat of the Coronavirus.
While nurses deserve praise year-round, it is especially nice to use National Nurses Week to show them a little extra love. With this in mind, we have decided to share a few ways that you can do just that!
Whether it is in the form of a card, a text, or a care basket, sending a thank you gift to a nurse you know (or a nurse that someone you are close to knows) is a great way to show your appreciation. You can also use delivery services like Edible Arrangements or monthly subscription services like CAUSEBOX, to send a thank you to a nurse in need.
The current COVID-19 pandemic has proven to be nothing short of a challenge on our healthcare system. This is why donations to the nurses who are fighting to save lives (and protect their own lives) is essential. You can donate money to nurses at a local hospital or to larger charities like the American Nurses Foundation. Along with monetary donations, you can also donate protective gear such as masks, hand sanitizer and gloves to help with the shortage of these necessary supplies.
Lots of businesses such as Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and Panera have added discounts or even freebies for those working in healthcare during the pandemic. These discounts have only grown during National Nurses Week & allows healthcare workers to treat themselves for all their hard work. There are also some businesses like Insomnia Cookies who are allowing people who order through their website to send additional box of treats to someone they know anywhere in the country. This is a great way to spread more thanks to the nurses who are working so hard to save lives.
